Last week, Denise Robertson, CDP, SPHR, MBA – Chief Operating Officer of NIT, attended a presentation by Teepa Snow in Charlottesville, VA. Teepa Snow, internationally recognized leading educator on dementia and the care that accompanies it, is an occupational therapist with over 40 years of clinical practice experience. She advocates for ‘Positive Approach” to support and engage people experiencing changes in brain function. Teepa has successfully integrated her education and extremely varied work experiences, recent medical and international research and first-hand care support and provision background into a program that quides other in effectively working with people living with neurocongitive degeneration.
Following the seminar, Denise reported that the advances and unique approaches being made in therapy options for dementia patients is incredible. “There are real strides being made in the industry that will have meaningful impacts on the quality of lives for our patients.” As NIT continues to expand our services into throughout Iowa, we are constantly improving our understanding of the diseases that affect cognition and helping families and caregivers the tools to navigate the challenges and changes that are experienced by our patients.
