Jean has over 24 years of experience in therapy and administration. Her career started in Waterloo, Iowa at Covenant Medical Center where she quickly became coordinator of the hand therapy program. At this time Jean also worked as department lead therapist for NovaCare in Waterloo. In 1993 she entered private practice and formed Waverly Rehabilitation, a Medicare certified rehab agency. As the practice continued to grow and business diversification became a priority, Jean founded Healthcare Solutions and Consulting (HSC Therapy) and Northern Iowa Therapy.
Her background and expertise include hand therapy, geriatrics, low vision rehab, consulting and mentoring leadership-focused clinicians. Today, Northern Iowa Therapy and its affiliated organizations, employ over 150 licensed therapists at outpatient clinics, hospitals, nursing facilities, home health, industries, schools and daycares throughout the state.

Denise brings over 25 years of experience in the leadership and development of rehab healthcare organizations. As a Board Member of the National Association of Rehab Providers (NARA) for over five years, Denise also served as Chief Operating Officer for Rehab Management Inc, and the Regional Vice President of Select Rehab. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and has held a certification as a Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC-CT, MDS Coordinator). She is a nationally known speaker on areas affecting both the rehab industry and the fluid environment of today’s healthcare reforms. Her career successes include achievements in developing partnerships along the continuum of post-acute care, consulting on business strategies and creating workable solutions to produce amazing ROI’s, and clinical outcomes while keeping up to date and strategic on current compliance and reimbursement challenges.
Denise is an alumnus of the University of Richmond and earned her Executive MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Michelle has 22 years of experience in the therapy field. Her clinical experience and expertise includes long term care, mental health, cognitive rehab, and management. Her management experience includes training, mentoring, monitoring, and assessing our therapists and programs. Michelle also organizes our State of Iowa-approved continuing education courses that bring local and national experts to area therapists at locations across Iowa. Our Continuous Therapist Competency Improvement programs ensure our patients receive leading edge care. Michelle, along with other members of our therapist team, teaches these courses on the state level, gives graduate lectures at therapy colleges and has provided input to national education curriculum developers.

Dan has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. A native Iowan, Dan grew up on a hog and dairy farm in rural Iowa and attended his mother’s alma mater, the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) where he met his wife, Jean – the president of NIT!
A board-certified Chiropractor, Dan has been involved with NIT since 2003 and leads the new business develop- ment, recruiting, insurance, billing and credentialing functions of the company. He was the cornerstone of the exponential growth two new divisions in 2018!
One of the greatest challenges facing the rehab industry, especially in rural towns, was the shortage of qualified clinicians. Taking on the challenge, Dan contacted Hawkeye Community College (HCC) in Waterloo to present the idea of forming Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)and Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)programs. These pro- grams were developed and are now accredited offerings at the College. Dan remains a member of the advisory board for the OTA Program at HCC.
In 2010, Dan contacted Allen College to propose forming an Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT) program. Allen graduated their first class of OT’s in 2017 and is working through steps to form a Doctorate PT program. Dan continues to sit on the advisory board for both of these programs.
In addition to working with educational institutions to train the next generation of clinicians, Dan is also very involved politically and advocates for patients and policy initiatives at local town hall meetings and at the Capital in Des Moines.
In 2014 the Iowa Occupational Therapy Association awarded Dan ‘Advocate of the Year’ for work he did for patients and the therapy profession.

Outpatient Services Administrator
Holly received her degree in Occupational Therapy in 1996 from St Ambrose University and joined a Northern Iowa Therapy affiliate as a staff therapist. Since then, Holly has accepted ever-advancing management roles and helped lead our clinical teams throughout our organization. Holly holds advanced certifications in lymphedema management, pediatric therapy, and hand therapy. Holly is also our student fieldwork liaison. Therapy interns from across the United States come to our facilities each year to learn and get hands-on experience in their chosen professions.

Tina is a firm believer that “everything happens for a reason”. Inspired by a high school friend, Tina obtained her CNA as a teenager and quickly developed a passion for healthcare. Later, these skills came in handy as she and her husband cared and advocated for her inspiring brother-in-law with Downs Syndrome for many years.
Growing up, Tina always thought she would become a nurse. But, instead her career took a turn towards a varied background of small business development, finance, marketing, project management, and quality assurance. (The things she always used to refer to as the “boring things”)
Joining the NIT Team in 2012, Tina’s passion for people and business merged. Overseeing all of the administrative functions in the office, Tina directly handles all financial matters such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and banking. She oversees the group benefit insurance plans and company commercial insurance accounts and is responsible for the supervision of all administrative staff, including HR and front desk.
