NIT is pleased to announce the participants for this year’s Outreach Mission: Jean Harrington-Britt, Kailee Janssen and Jaclyn Bormann. Congratulations! We are so proud to have you representing the NIT family.
To fulfill our mission of providing comprehensive, compassionate and innovative care and to celebrate our 25th year in business, NIT invited all of our employees to participate in our November outreach program in Guatemala to work with Community Health Coordinators in assisting the residents of San Lucas Heath problems in the region, which are often directly reflective of the poverty of the community, include trauma due to work related and motor vehicle injuries and chronic disorders such as cerebral palsy, birth defects and developmental delay. The NIT team will be seeing patients at the clinic, the school, in the patient’s home or other locations.
All interested employees were asked to complete an application and submit an essay on “Why you want to go on this trip?” While all employees are welcome to join the trip, NIT selects up to three employees from the applicants to sponsor for the one week volunteer program. And this year, Kailee and Jaclyn were the lucky winners!
In submitting her application for this program, Jacyln, a Physical Therapist, said “I believe the whole reason for most of us becoming a therapist is to help others, to make a change in their life. I believe this (outreach program) would bring that to a whole new level and bring me back to the reason I love this profession in the first place.”
Kailee, a Physical Therapist Assistant, echoed those same thoughts in her application by saying ‘I am passionate about therapy and improving someone’s quality of life.” Kailee went on to give a shout out to NIT, saying “We are blessed by a company who cares so much of others and has this opportunity!”
NIT provides airfare, transportation, meals, and housing for the winners.
The tip will take place in late November. Stay tuned for reports from Jean, Kailee and Jaclyn on their experiences.
